LA HUELLA ECOLÓGICA DEL CULTIVO DEL OLIVO EN ESPAÑA Y SU APLICABILIDAD COMO INDICADOR DE AGRICULTURA SOSTENIBLE
Abstract
The ecological footprint of the olive tree crop in Spain and its aplicability as indicador of the susteinable agriculture. Olive tree crop occupies a vast surface in mediterranean countries being, in fact, an essential part of the landscape. It is the main tree crop in Spain with great ecological, socioeconomic and cultural implications. The main aim of this paper is to asses the sustainability of this crop and the risk of desertification, by calculating its ecological footprint (EF) and compairing it with olive tree biocapacity (BP) in the spanish land, to asses if there is some ecological deficit (ED). Both indicators are calculated in two technological scenarios: ploughing in bare soil and no ploughing, founding that the ecological footprint is a good discriminator between both methods.Downloads
