Abstract

This paper aims on the assessment of the specific deterioration and the transport quantification in the basin of the Lebène river in the central Prérif, where water erosion is very important. The high erodibility of rocks, the climatic aggressiveness and the frequent variations of debits make that the volume of materials transported by the Lebène reaches some impressive quantities. The spatial and temporary variations of precipitations and debits influence the strong transports of sediments, what explains the narrow interrelationship among these variables. The analyses relating to the water turbidity and to the distribution of particle sizes reinforce this relation.
