Abstract

A retrospective analysis of the process of population growth during this century in the different Autonomous Regions in Spain enables us to outline the present situation of unequal distribution amongst regions. These population figures are then contrasted with others of a socioeconomic nature from the second half of the 1980's, such as levels of development, standards of living, income, economic sectors etc. The disproportions between regions revealed by this analysis may serve as a reference point for future planning.
