Abstract

Geographical Information Systems (GISs) are a valuable research tool in present-day geographical studies. Prior cartographic knowledge of the temtory is required for the application of GISs. This permits content-fulfillment of the System as well as the extracting of the multiple connections existing between the different elements of the tenitory. In this paper a detailed analysis is set forth of the geographical phenomena converging on a small territory of the NW area of Murcia. This is considered as a pilot experience in order to put forward a method later applicable to the Region of Murcia as a whole. Harmonizing the different sources of information used has proved highly difficult
