PERFIL SOCIOECONÓMICO DE VIEQUES (PUERTO RICO) SEGÚN EL CENSO POBLACIONAL
Abstract
This paper deals with the island municipio of Vieques. Between 1940 and 2002 three fourths of its territory had been conveted to military bases by U.S Navy. Due to the beauty of its natural resources, the island has been considered as an excellent place to develop in terms of sustainable tourism. For the island residents to benefit from such tourism, it is important that a social and economic profile of the population be taken into account. Thus, this analysis using graps and descriptive statistics considers the growth of is population, the effects of migration, educational levels of the adult population, characteristics of the labor force, income, and the status of de housing units on the island.Downloads
