Abstract

The capital towns have faced a continuos demographic growth, due in most cases to their adminisrative condition. This has led to a gradual concentration of high population, in relation to their administrative boundaries. However, this process seems to have slowed down; the reasons contributing this are many. The most outstanding ones are: a dicrease in migration movements, the over spread economic crisis, the excesive concentration in urban areas that lead to descentralization ten dencies, etc. But this process is far to cease off and could be used to carry out a more balanced territorial planification.
