SORNE CONSIDERATIONS REGARDING THE LOCAL ARRANGERNENT OF MURCIA TERRITORY
Abstract
Once the 01s controversy about the contents of Geography has been left behind, we should try to extend more and more its field of applied research. Territorial analysis followed by diagnosis of the situation and outline of an arrangement such as to improve space relationships, are some of the suitable tasks of geographers, joining a combined team of specialists. According to the new geopolitical structure of our country, the ranges of space analysis should be as follows: population settlemnts, areas and counties. We consider areas as the most suitable divisions for territorial levels of analysis in order to correct intrarregional unbalances. This paper maintains the area division proposed in 1980. After having compared it to the one adopted by the Comunidad Autónoma Government, we judge that ours is still valid. We analyse the area evolution of the region of Murcia during the last 25 years. Three relevant facts have been selected: population, irrigation systern and available family income. The conclusions reveal an area uneveness, which is not recent, and which has been increased during the past few years, along which a process of concentration of human and economic ressources has taken place.Downloads
