Abstract

Koppen's classification is applied to Spain for the desert climates (BW) and steppe climate(Bs S) with their varieties hot (h) and cold (k) and introduces an intermediate moderate type (BSj) with annual average below 18°C but with the coldest month above 6°C. It defines the diverse dry zones of the Southeast, Ebro Valley and Canary Islands, and points out other possible zones.
