Inmigración y territorio en Canadá. Algunas reflexiones en los años postreros del siglo XX
Abstract
Canada has traditionally been one of the inmigrant receiver countries, although this role has been diminished by the migratory streams in neighbouring countries, and the fact that Canada incorporated to this phenomenon later. In any case its demographic growth can-not be understood without the contribution of inmigration. These aspects are analysed in the article, and specially the meaning of inmigration during the last decades, together with its composition and structure, according to different factors. In the same way some reflections about its content and spatial repercussions in the territorial organization have been added. Some substancial changes, specially related to the origin of inmigrants are noticed before the end of the century.
