The natural park Calares del Mundo y de la Sima (Albacete), nature recreative destination in the suoth-east of Spain
Abstract
The mountains of the province of Albacete have become an important recreative destination in Castilla-La Mancha. The regional administration has got involved in this process with the declaration of a Natural Park, the protection and geomorphologic and biogeographic revaluation, and by working with the Associations of Municipalities, Local Action Groups and individual municipalities. Currently the actions are focused on the Levante rich cave art heritage (UNESCO World Heritage), historic architecture (fortress and shrine chapels), creation of ethnographic museums and interpretive centers, etc. The model chosen is rural tourism and nature, involving a diversification of tourist services adapted to the creation of a distinctive regional Rural Quality label.
