Abstract

Migration stills being a social phenomenon present in Mexico, with different intensity levels. A statistical sampling was realized, between coffee producers, in order to determine the population movement in a totonaca indigenous zone. The results point out that among indigenous peasants inner migration is correlated with price crisis of coffee production since more of a decade. Mexico and Puebla cities still remain as the main attraction poles, where totonacos indigenous find better jobs and higher incomes than in coffee production and rural spaces.
