In recent decades, the employment and non-agricultural rural income in México have beco- me an important source of earnings for rural families, who have had to modify their activities due to the impact of agricultural policy and internal factors of change within their economic organization. This research was done in the community of San Mateo Ayecac de Lardizabal, in the state of Tlaxcala. In 2008, 43 farmers were surveyed. The results evince that young population with a higher level of schooling and smaller agricultural land has a non-agricultural employment; in fact, they work in the home sewing workshops and have changed the production process of their crops, as a result, the corn production yield has been altered.
