ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE (2003-2008) AND NURSING CARE
Abstract
Bibliographic, qualitative and quantitative study, whose objectives are identifying and analyzing the main data base and references that examine the nursing care of the elderly with Alzheimer’s disease. The survey includes 27 references through the search in the electronic database of the Virtual Health Library and the library collection of EEAN / UFRJ, from 2003 to 2008. The collected data of the references point at the widening of the sources of the health population and professionals. A knowledge gap was found where the references do not specify the nursing care and the nursing professional themselves. References exclusively addressed to nursing were used in scope or bibliography research with special attention to the elderly with Alzheimer’s disease, care-givers and families. There were not references that deal with the training of the nursing team in the elderly with Alzheimer’s disease. We believe the necessity exists for carrying out an investigation dedicated to the continuous training of nurses that give care to the elderly with Alzheimer’s disease, and guide care-givers and families.
