Abstract

The creation of the Intensive Care Units and the attention to politraumatized patients have led to a change of the criteria about death. Thanks to their equipment and methodology, at Intensive Care Units it is possible to maintain the cardiorespiratory function of patients who, otherwise, would have been considered dead.
