HIGH-BLOOD PRESSURE CONTROL IN PRIMARY HEALTH CARE - AN ANALYSIS OF NURSE'S PRACTICES.
Abstract
High-blood pressure is presented today as an important problem of public health, which in the absence of its early detection, treatment and suitable self-care, can leave irreversible consequences, needing, therefore professional care. The study sought to identify the activities carried out by Nurses from the Family Health Strategy during care for the high-blood pressure sufferer, along with, their social-demographic profile. The research is of an exploratory-descriptive type with 36 Nurses from Sobral-Ceará, in the period from January to July 2004. The results point to a considerable difference between the data collected through non-participant observation during checkups and those obtained in the questionnaire. It was discovered that during the graduation training, that there is still not adequate training for future professionals. Many nurses are already promoting appropriate care for the sufferers of high-blood pressure. In some cases the opposite occurs, the professional lack of preparation concerning care for the sufferer of high-blood pressure is quite frequent.Downloads
