ACCIDENTS DURING CHILDHOOD: THE PLACE OF OCCURRENCE AND FAMILY BEHAVIOUR AT HOME
Abstract
The objective was to get to know the scenarios of children’s accidents in their home, to find out who was present at the moment of the accident and to investigate the conduct of the people responsible according to the type of accident. Descriptive-exploratory study carried out with 65 families of preschool children using visits with structured interviews as a method. There was no significant statistical association between the type of accident and the place where it occurred (p = 0.259) and between the variable type of assistance solicited by the people responsible and the type of accident (p = 0.424). However, there is an important statistical association (p = 0.000) between the behavior of the people responsible and the accidents that affect children. Strategies are necessary for health care education in this field in order to reduce the consequences of domestic accidents.Downloads
