IMPORTANCE OF EARLY DIAGNOSIS AND NURSING CARE IN GESTATIONAL DIABETES.
Abstract
The present work is divided in two parts: - In the first one we check the main complications of gestational diabetes that can affect the mother and the fetus and, hence, we stress the importance of an early diagnose. In primary health care, a good cooperation between the nurse-midwife-obstetricien will lead to an improvement of the pregnancy follow-up. - In the second one we take into account the nursing care. Nursing staff specialized in obstetrics-gynaecology is part of the multidisciplinary team. Nurses work as health educators and can teach women how to manage their diabetes (diet, how to inject insulin, control of blood sugar levels, physical activity, etc.). In this line, nurses can also perform other activities, such as blood and urine tests, weight control, blood pressure control, evaluation of the presence of oedemas, etc.Downloads
