Abstract

Nursing has long been recognized as a stressful occupation. Stressors are not identical in each area of nurses’ actuation in hospital. The goal of this study is to investigate the stressors in nurses’ work in unit care. Nurses worked in a public and governmental hospital in São Paulo city - Brazil. A questionnaire was used to collect data about stressors and to compare with other units in hospital. As results, stressors most cited by respondents were classified as “ work conditions” and “ personnel management”. No significant correlation was observed between stressors and kind of units ( care and intensive care unit). There must be realized other studies to prove the results demonstrated in this research.
