CHECKING OF THE CENTRAL VENOUS CATHETER BY ELECTROCARDIOGRAPHY.
Abstract
Canalization of central veins of peripheral access is a common procedure performed by nurses and, above all, by those working at Intensive Care Units and some others hospital units in which it is necessary the presence of a central venous path for either parenteral nutrition/ administration of medication or obtaining a parameter which informs about volemy and cardiac performance via central venous pressure. Traditionally, the method of checking if the central venous catheter has been correctly placed has been radiology but there is another way of doing it. The knowledge of this technique, based on intracavitary electrocardiography, would be beneficial either for the nurse or the patient.Downloads
