ASSUMING COMPENTENCES FROM THE NANDA NIC NOC APPLICATION THE CLINICAL PRACTICE.
Abstract
Objectives: The application of NANDA NIC NOC taxonomies in order to give different abilities to the student such us reflection, clinical reasoning, making decisions, or autonomy are essential for the future development as Nursing professionals. Material and Methodology: A descriptive and observational study was carried out. The area of study belongs to 51 Nursing students in their second year in Surgical Medical Nursing I during the academic year 2005/06 that executed comprehensive attention to patients in Medical and Surgical Units in the University Hospital Complex in Vigo. The duration of the traineeship was 14 weeks and the number of elaborated and developed diagnostic was 204. Result: There was a 100% answer due to the fact that every student needed to hand in a report at the end of the traineeship. The taxonomies were considered as a good tool and an analysis framework and reflection in making decisions helping the students to know better the different responsibilities fields in the patients care. Conclusions: Students have understood the advantages of having a common language to give priority and to draw a plan. Students have also acquired more autonomy and security while doing clinical judgments and they feel more motivated while testing their usefulness.Downloads
