Abstract

This research investigates the knowledge of the Nursing Care in a specialised maternalpediatrics hospital within Mar de la Plata in Argentina. It is presumed of applying Positivist-Higienist beliefs, being the aim of the research identifying which nursing care come from science and which ones from beliefs, all applied in hospital patients. Sources, patterns and documentation used were revised as well as the presence of beliefs related to Nutrition-Metabolism, Elimination, Sexuality-Reproduction, Cognition-Perception and Values and Beliefs among others. The outcomes allowed us to set up convergences and divergences in the nursing care of nurses of that institution. The article suggests that institutions in charge of High Education should revise the teachinglearning process and come back to the widen fields of society. As M.C Davini (1995) proposes, “a unifying glance” of the study of aspects to solve situations which affect the practice of the subjects. There is still the challenge of stimulating the professionals to change the paradigm by means of the support of professional associations and academic fields.
