Abstract

This article is a reflection on birth assistance from point of view of a midwife. As a result of the official stance on how to humanize the obstetric hospital assistance, an analysis of the professional implications and the cultural nuances that influence the birthing experience has been presented. The importance of psychoprophylaxis in the birth preparation as a therapeutic vehicle to adjust to the reality and the conscious proposal of the topic, brings about an invaluable agreement for the possibility of a more satisfactory birth for everyone involved in procreative health.
