PREVIOUS STUDY ABOUT THE MEDICAL-SURGICAL NURSING SUBJECT FOR THE ADAPTATION OF THE NURSING CURRICULUM CONVERGENT TO THE EUROPEAN SPACE FOR HIGHER EDUCATION IN THE SPANISH UNIVERSITY
Abstract
The nursing curriculum which is currently taught at the Spanish University will soon go through a period of adaptation in order to achieve the European Higher Education Space (EHES). This will involve several changes, not only in the structure of the academic career, but also in its teaching and evaluation. Additionally, in the functions and skills of the nursing professionals, and in the development of their professional career. Nevertheless, the accumulated experience of the years while the current curriculum has been taught should be looked to in the elaboration of the new curriculum. In this way, this report studies how the core subject, Medical-Surgical Nursing, has been adapted in the current curriculum for all of the nursing schools in the country. This subject has been chosen because it is considered quite representative both for the academic career and the professional work of nursing. Several conclusions have been reached about the importance of nursing studies, as well as the number of theoretical and practical credits and the tendency to include Practicum subjects previous to the EHES.Downloads
