FOLLOWING UP THE BLOOD PRESSURE – A PILOT STUDY WHITH AN SPECIFIC GROUP OF CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS
Abstract
This study follows the systolic and diastolic blood pressure levels of a group of children and teenagers that presented, in a previous selection, blood pressure percentiles above of the normal for their gender, age, and height. A longitudinal pilot study has been carried out in a school at Fortaleza, comprising twenty-one people within a range from 6 to 18 years. Among them, twelve were of female sex. The data have been collected in four evolutions with intervals of two months, from October 2004 to April 2005. There were reduced the blood pressure in 13 participants and in 8 had rise. Of those four participants had the IMC increased. The increase of diastolic blood pressure has been the most common. Some findings diverge of the other studies with methodology and populations divers, suggesting an extension in the inquiry. To evaluate blood pressure levels of children and teenagers is important to prevent or to delay the appearance of cardiac illnesses.Downloads
