The climacteric in women’s perspective
Abstract
This study aimed to know the climacteric experience from the perspective of women. This is a descriptive research with qualitative approach. The informants were ten women who participated in an extension project on the climacteric, in a teaching hospital in southern Brazil. In data collection, we used the semi-structured interview technique, with subsequent thematic analysis. Sexuality, medicalization of the body and care about their own health issues were brought by women. Identified that women have little information about the climacteric and that knowledge is constructed, mainly, through exchange of experiences with other women who have experienced. The study broadened the knowledge about the experience of climacteric and allowed to reflect about the care offered to these women.Downloads
