Appropriate Use of Artificial Intelligence
The role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the scientific field has revolutionized the way science is conducted, facilitating and optimizing scientific research. However, there is some concern about its use in the scientific field, especially regarding research integrity, data use, and privacy. Therefore, ethics becomes imperative for creating guidelines for the honest and responsible use of AI.
Enfermería Global adheres to the recommendations developed by the R4C-IRG Interdisciplinary Research Group: Complex Thinking for All and the Educational Technology Unit of the Institute for the Future of Education (IFE) at the Polytechnic University of Monterrey for scientific work.
1. Guarantee scientific and ethical integrity when using AI in research: it should be considered an auxiliary tool, but not a definitive solution.
2. Ensure the confidentiality of personal data and comply with global data protection regulations: this must be done throughout the entire process of its use.
3. Conduct a critical analysis of AI-generated data: by recognizing its technical limitations and the influence of prompt quality on the results.
4. Rigorously verify and validate the information obtained: ensure the validity and relevance of the results, and assume responsibility for their interpretation and application.
5. Document the methods and tools used in detail: clearly specify authorship and the degree of AI contribution to the research results.
6. Actively act to identify, reduce, and avoid bias in research: promote the responsible and equitable use of this technology.
7. Stay continuously updated on advances in AI: diversify experimentation with tools and encourage their creative and effective use in research.
8. Conduct periodic reviews and adaptations of AI regulations: ensure ongoing alignment of ethical principles with scientific integrity.
9. Foster interdisciplinary collaboration to enrich knowledge sharing: leverage the synergy between AI and human knowledge.
10. Actively share AI resources relevant to research and provide training to other researchers on their effective application.
