Abstract

The phenomenon of culture applied to the acquisition of a foreign languaje has not received much attention in the field of didactics, since many linguistics have been considering culture as part to other disciplines, such as geography, politics, history or as non-relevant assumptions. Howevwe, the proficiency in a FL, dose not only imply the mastering of the language, but also the acquisition of cultural elements that go beyond pure linguistics, belonging to the field of pragmatics since many of the pragmatic strategies used in everyday speech consist of ritualised to conventional expressions that have been acquired more or less consciously. The purpose of this article lies in delimiting the concept of culture from a didactic approach according to what several German linguistics consider Landeskunde (the translation of culture into German). We are also going to analyse the cultural factors that the learning of a FL. And finally to offer possible proposals for the illustration of German in the classroom including not only linguistic. But also extralinguistic and paralinguistic variables.
