INTRODUZIONE A IL LIBRO DEI GIORNI DELL’OPERA DI MUḤYIDDĪN IBN AL-ʿARAB

Abstract

Riassunto: In questo breve trattato, che può essere considerato un commento al versetto: “Ogni giorno Egli è all’opera” (Cor. LV-29), Ibn ʿArabī spiega che i sette giorni della settimana, così come noi li viviamo quotidianamente, sono solo l’aspetto esteriore e sensibile
dei veri giorni della settimana, cioè dei giorni delle opere divine. Ad ognuno di questi giorni corrisponde una sola opera divina ma nei giorni che noi conosciamo queste opere sono distribuite nelle 12 ore della notte e nelle 12 ore del dì secondo un preciso ordinamento che Ibn ʿArabī descrive dettagliatamente. Questo testo fa intravedere una concezione qualitativa del tempo ben diversa da quella quantitativa ed omogenea a cui siamo abituati, e mostra che il fondamento di ogni cosa esistente è nelle realtà divine.

Abstract: In this short treatise, which can be considered a commentary on the verse, “Every day He is at work” (Cor. LV-29), Ibn ʿArabī explains that the seven days of the week, as we experience them daily, are only the outward and perceptible aspect of the true days of the week, that is, the days of divine works. Each of these days corresponds to a single divine work, but in the days we know, these works are distributed over the 12 hours of the night and the 12 hours of the day according to a precise order that Ibn ʿArabī describes in detail. This text offers a glimpse of a qualitative conception of time that is very different from the quantitative and homogeneous one we are accustomed to, and shows that the foundation of everything that exists lies in divine realities.
