Abstract

The realization of prison ́s activities character is presented as an essential tool to achieve the purpose of reintegration traditionally linked to penitentiaries. However, is not common found in Spain researches analyzing the accessibility of inmates to prison activities according to the legal situation in prison. In the current research we analyzed access to these activities based on the legal situation of inmates as well as their sociodemographic, offense and prison characteristics. We made a cross-sectional study where 260 inmates (51,5% preventive) out of 401 inmates were randomly selected in the prison of Murcia, with a confidence level of 95% was surveyed. We did not found discrepancies in access to employment, formative and leisure activities according to the legal status of the inmate, being overall insufficient. It is necessary to perform this type of study in order to further deepen the population is waiting for a conviction, and access to activities that should facilitate subsequent reintegration into the inmates according to the legal status.
