Abstract

This article presents a review of the origens, development and social implications of the "Secciones Filiales" of Secondary School in Spain. First of ali, it is analized how the creation of these Secondary Schools was influenced by social, economical and polítical factors. In the second place, it is studied how these factors were related to the social and political situation that the country lived in that period. The article concludes by stressing the importance of the "Secciones Filiales" had for the social, cutural and educational developmentofthe inhabitants of the outlying quarters in industrial a rea.
