Abstract

The alkaline proteolytic system from a non-agglutinable strain of V. cholerae isolated from water has been analysed. Maximal levels of extracellular protease activity are produced during the stationary phase of repressed by glucose. The enzyme system is compossed of four distinct proteolytic enzymes as evidenced by SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis with copolymerized gelatin as substrate.
