Abstract

An extensive study of the Segura watershed has been conducted. This has allowed us to characterize the faunistic framework of several coleoptera families living in these waters: Dryopidae (5 species) and Elmidae (17 species). The presence of Dryops lutulentus, Dryops sulcipennis and Potamophilus acuminatus in the Iberian Peninsula has been confirmed. The area under study constitutes the southem limit of the Paleartic distribution of Elmis aenea, Esolus angustatus and Oulimnius tuherculatus perezi. On the basing of a general classification of the different aquatic habitats of studied catchment, several ecological considerations on some species of Dlyopoidea, has been established.
