Abstract

A review of the species of genus Dociustaurus Fieber, 1853 inhabiting the Iberian Peninsula has been made. The synonymy of Dociostaurus monserrati García & presa, 1984 with Dociostaurus jagoi occidentalis Soltani, 1978 is proposed. Data and figures of some anatomical aspects, such as the stridulatory files of males and females, are presented. A special reference to the sound production of the species is made. The respective songs produced by Dociostaurus crassiusculus (Pantel, 1886) and Dociustaurus genei genei (Ocskay, 1832) are described for the first time, along with data on the spectral characteristics of all the songs. A key for identifying the considered species is presented.
