Abstract

This article deals with Max Weber’s relationship with German politics. According to Carlos M. Herrera, the reception of Weberian political ideas in Weimar was the object of an open politico-intellectual battle –mainly in the field of state theory. The ambivalence in Weber’s theory is highlighted when it is established that his thinking was used by the various and opposing actors that, from Hans Kelsen and Richard Thoma to Carl Schmitt, were protagonists of the politico-intellectual debate about liberal democracy, the social rule of law and dictatorship.
