Abstract

The author examines how the political power base uses writing and images to construct a representation with which to legitimise itself and project itself into the future. She analyses the example of Alfonso the Magnanimous, who started a political-cultural programme aimed at creating a discourse of legitimisation with respect to the Kingdom of Naples and international politics. In doing so, she focuses on the text of a humanist courtier close to Alfonso V, Antonio Boccadelli, Il Panormita.
