Abstract

In the last Middle Ages, the strengthening of king’s power went with new ways of political propaganda in order to exalt the sovereign’s superiority. Among them, image’s care, through king’s clothing, was one of the most important one. So, this paper studies spents on clothes and jewels carried out by Alfons «the Magnanimous», king of Aragon, and his wife, Mary of Castile, emphasizing their interest in looking for new fashions, to become a refering point for their subjects, as a specially appropriate way to underline their supremacy in an always-changing society.
