Abstract

In 1478, Diego de Sotomayor, a gentlemen from Alcaraz, make his last will. We can state in it how his slaves and illegitimate sons have received odd names (Ginebra, Lanzarote, Carlos, Conquista), which makes us conclude that Sotomayor was a hard reader of cavalry novels. Analizing this document it is also acknowledged some behaviours which help us to trace some aspects of Castillian society at the end of the Middle Ages, such as the treatment to slaves, relationships within families or cavalry mentality of the Medieval period
