Abstract

The Jews of Murcia played an important role in the political and socioeconomic life of the kingdom. Thanks to the indefigable research of the leading scholars of Murcia and the publication of volu¬ntes of sources relating to these Jews, it is possible to begin to put together a fairly comprehensivc picture of this activity. This article surveys these sources for the crucial period from the mid-thirteenth to nearly the end of the fourteenth centuries, including references to Jewish tax collectors and other offícials, writers, and doctors. Medieval Murcia stands out as a shining example of the theme of «convivencia» in Spain's history
