Abstract

Alfonso XI had to revitalize the cavalry in order to achieve one of his main political objectives, the war against the Moorish. For that reason, he updated the popular cavalry, granting privileges, as well as providing noble knights with a new ideal with religious connotations, favouring the Crown’s interests.
