Abstract

Barcelona has been a constant attraction during XIX and XX century to many artists, particularly, the flamencos. Hemerographic sources reveal, without a doubt, that Barcelona was a kind of flamenco El Dorado, with hundreds of taberns, flamenco shows, great audiences and many artists that left their mark on the city. Lola Cabello was a Malaguenian cantaora who went to live to Barcelona and became a star in flamenco firmament during the third decade of XX century. We’ll discover her first steps in Radio Barcelona with guitarist Rejón and her incessant performances with Pepe Hurtado, a great flamenco concert guitarist, in many Barcelonian theatres and cinemas. Unfortunately, she died young, in the heyday of her artistic career and has been forgotten by enthusiasts. This article it’s a small tribute to her memory.
