Abstract

In previous papers we have illustrated, using musicological, iconographic and written sources, how it has been the transition from strummed folk guitar to flamenco guitar in Spain, and particularly in Andalusia, from the sixteenth to the nineteenth centuries. One of the most interesting periods that will nurture future dances and flamenco touches will take place in the seventeenth century and the practice across Europe of "strummed" Baroque guitar or "Spanish guitar". Our paper, will provide a large selection of written sources and musical documents bearing in mind this perspective from the popular  strumming  to the flamenco one in the Spanish guitar.
