Abstract

The use of archaeological documentation for the reconstruction of the attributes and evolution of agrarian systems in Roman Hispania creates important theoretical and methodological problems. Yet in the last few decades the progress in field archaeology and the incorporation of new laboratory techniques have provided the possibility of obtaining large amounts of information, which allows for a more rigorous approximation to the subjects of technology, production methods, the structure of rural property and the relationship between agriculture, craftsmanship and commerce. This progress allows to simultaneously perform in-depth analyses of the relationships between economy, habitat and territory.
