Abstract

In this paper an approach has been attempted to outstand the use of  recourses that writers J. A. Silva and R. Darío have in common such as temporary superpositions and the irrational type of symbolization, practically ignored by critics to this moment. Two poems of identical title: «Nocturno» of the above mentioned authors have been compared to show this point. The two poems, apparently dissimilar as a whole, in their form. accomplishments and contents, are, however, finally embodied in several essential points: the presence of a fundamental obsession in both writers: death, contemplated from different angles, the use of temporary superpositions (past-present in Silva and present-future in Darío) and also the symbolic way of alluding to the third temporary dimension, also apparently absent in the authors. Perhaps, however, the most outstanding aspect to be considered would be the impeccable use of these recourses combined that thus attain the maximum point of effectiveness as literary recourses as such as well as the aesthetic accomplishment to which, in a good degree, they contribute.
