Abstract

(…)A considerable part of the information about Middle Age has come to us not through original documents but through more or less reliable copies obtained by means 01 different channels and with many different purposes, in this papero we attempt to find out of which extent exactness and reliability are guaranteed by these texts, which were copied several years or centuries after they were originally written, to do that. we make use of several letters written in the XVIII th century, which have been copied later in various compendia or compilations as El Libro lnventario or La

Compulsa de Privilegios by Ascensio de Morales. We analyze briefly some phenct mena, without any pretension of exhaustiveness; we remark alternances rather than similarities of these documents. We come next to a conclusion which attempts to explain the reason 01 the recorded variants. Likewise we consider to which extent it is suitable to use these documents in order to do philological studies or descriptions of states of language (…)
