Abstract

This research is aimed at using palynology as a tool for the study of the forensic scenario. Five different vegetation areas of Murcia Region have been selected, with two types of samples being processed in each case, one of the soil surface sediment, another one from the footwear dust. Pollen analyses depict five, well-differentiated areas, which validates the sampling selection criteria. Furthermore, there is a clear-cut correlation between the pollen spectra obtained from soil surface sediment and footwear dust samples in each study case. It is concluded that comparison of pollen spectra from surface sediment dust and footwear sediment infill is a reliable approach for forensic palynology.
