Abstract

The naturalness of pine forests, particularly of wild pine in the Iberian Peninsula has been, for some decades, subject of controversy between scholars. This work calls attention on a botanically emblematic zone, known like Hoyocasero Pine wood, by the floristic richness that includes. Proof of it is the numerous visits and excursions of which it has been object, although also exists historical information coming from documents and archives, as well as several doctoral theses. In this case, all these available data are contributed that already complement the existing ones from the palynological scope and they are collated with the historical documentation which we have, with the intention of being able to clarify the reasons of the presence of this small spot of wild pine, in an area in which still it is in discussion the potentiality of the pine, as it is all the North slope of the Mountain range of Gredos. One is to contribute the reasons that justify their existence, being based on historical and palynological data.
