Abstract

This report is the first part of an integrated ecological study on Mar Menor area and its neighbouring ecosystems. The phase of survey and land units stablishment is described, based on those data obtained from the natural environment and the characterization of internally homogeneus sectors in relation to those elements that shape this are of study. Five themes have been considered: C/imate (4), Geology-Litology (l4), Hidrology (l4), Geomorfology (21) and Soils (25). The figures refer to the numbers of characterized units. The results are cartographycally shown on a scale 1: 50.000. The overall analysis of the physical factors and land and human elements -subject for next publication-, willlet us take into final considerations about the environmental conditions of this studying area as well as its present circunstances.
