Abstract

Some observations on daily activity of three shallow-water holothurians (Holothuria (Holothuria) tubulosa, H. (Platyperona) sanctori and H. (Lessonothuria) arguinensis) have been realized in Canary Islands. It's possible to assess an increase of activity during the night and differences in the microhabitats used by each species. There is a great variability of intraspecific behaviours and somne species, even prefering a particular habitat, conserve their adaptability to other habitats less suitable or attractive, in relation with the pressures caused by the intra or interspecific competitiveness.
