Abstract

As a basis for a pedogenetic study, a description is given of the main features of the physical environment to which the soils of the Leiva ravine. in the Northeast of Sierra Espuña (Murcia. Spain), belong. The lithology of the area under consideration is made up of consolidated limestone rocks and detritical heterometric calcareous materials. The moisture regime of the soils is xeric, the temperature regime, mesic. Three potential associations of vegetation can be distinguished according to altitude. 'The topography is uneven, with generally steep slopes and hydrographic network courses of torrential type.
