Abstract

The carabid fauna of the salt marshes of Pétrola, el Saladar and el Saiobraiejo (East of Albacete) has been studied and compared to that of a sublitoral salt marsh.in Albatera (Alicante). This last locality seems to hold a richer halobiontic fauna than the inner marshes, whereas the contrary seems to be true with regard to halophilic species. Therefore it seems that the carabid fauna changes appreciably with altitude, so that earlier conclusions of others authors about the fauna of lberian salt marshes must be modified.
